Sufi Munawar Laghari is the Executive Director of Sindhi Foundation based in Washington, D.C., U.S. He is a humble follower of Sindh’s great Sufi poet, Shah Abdul Latif Bhittai (1689-1752). An ardent proponent of Sindh and Balochistan’s unity, Mr. Laghari has tirelessly worked for the two oppressed peoples’ freedom from Pakistan.

Sufi Laghari was invited to speak at the SAATH FORUM’s ‘Future of Pakistan Conference 2016’ in London, UK. Aside from his speech, he also presented in writing, a clear message for the Pakistani establishment that reflects the ground realities of the two nations of Sindh and Balochistan today.

بلوچ نیشنل موومنٹ کے مرکزی ترجمان نے کہا کہ بیس جون کو بی این ایم کے خارجہ سیکریٹری حمل حیدر بلوچ نے سوئٹزر لینڈ کے شہر جنیوا میں اقوام متحدہ کے ورکنگ گروپ ’’Working Group on Enforced Disappearance WGEID ‘‘ سے ملاقات کی اور بلوچستان میں پاکستان کی جانب سے انسانی حقوق کی خلاف ورزیوں پر ایک تفصیلی رپورٹ پیش کی۔

حمل حیدر نے جنیوا ہی میں 21 جون کو اقوام متحدہ کے سائیڈ ایونٹ میں ایشین لیگل ریسورس سنٹر (ALRC) اور رائٹ لِولی ہُڈ ایوارڈ فاؤنڈیشن کے زیر اہتمام ایونٹ میں مقرر کے طور شرکت کی ۔ یہ پروگرام ENFORCED DISAPPEARANCES AND EXTRAJUDICIAL EXECUTIONS IN PAKISTAN کے عنوان سے تھا، جو ALRC کے سینئر ریسرچر بصیر نوید کی زیر صدارت منعقد تھا۔ دوسرے مقررین میں رائٹ لِولی ہُڈ ایوارڈ فاؤنڈیشن کے ڈائریکٹر شرن سرینواس، امریکہ میں مقیم کالم نگار حسن مجتبیٰ ، WISE پاکستان کے ڈائریکٹر بشریٰ خالق، منور لغاری، مہران بلوچ، حاتم بلوچ، ورلڈ سندھی کانگریس کے ڈاکٹر لکھو لوہانہ، جسمم کے شفیع برفت، یو این پو او کے فرنانڈو برگزاور سردار شوکت کشمیری شامل تھے۔

Briefing: Human Rights Situation in Sindh, Pakistan

Washington, D.C – Briefing on human rights situation in Sindh, Pakistan was held in US Congress building under congresswoman Loretta Sanchez and was attended by Congressmen Brad Sherman and Adam Schiff. Issues related to rise of religious extremism, enforced or involuntary disappearances of Sindhi nationalists by Pakistan’s military, intelligence agencies and other agencies, forced conversions to Islam of Hindu women, and Sindh police’s torture policy called “Half Fry – Full Fry” were raised by the speakers.

T. Kumar of Amnesty International, U.S.A, and Hasan Mujtaba; a New York based journalist and human rights defender were keynote speakers in the Congressional Cannon Building attended by Democrat Congressmen Brad Sherman, Adam Schiff and Congresswoman Loretta from California.
