Powerless Committees Are A Waste Of Time – Sammi Deen Baloch

Sammi Deen Baloch, daughter of forcefully disappeared Baloch leader by Pakistan, Dr. Deen Muhammad and General Secretary of Voice for Baloch Missing Persons, expressing her views on the social media site Twitter on recently created new commission by the Balochistan government for missing persons, said that our lives have passed revolving around the committees.

Sammi Deen said that in these last thirteen years we have seen so many powerless committees and subcommittees that now committees seem to be a waste of time.

She said that, formation of another committee by the provincial government is a joke with us, the relatives of Baloch enforced disappeared persons, we don’t want committees, we want our loved ones back alive.

Gwadar: Police Crackdown on Haq Du Tehreek Sit-In, Many Activist Arrested, Situation Tense

Late last night, the police raided the sit-in of the Haq Du Tehreek at the coastal city of Gwadar, Balochistan and detained several people, including Hussain Wadela, the leader of the Haq Du Tehreek.

After the arrest of the leaders, the situation in the coastal areas of Gwadar, Pasni and Ormara became chaotic, while internet and mobile networks were also suspended.

According to local sources, the police continued shelling tear gas throughout the night while the fishermen continued their sit-in protest. Late at night, the woman also joined the sit-in in support of the protesters.

Kurdish protest over Paris shooting turns violent

PARIS, Dec 24 (Reuters) – Clashes broke out for a second day in Paris on Saturday between police and Kurdish protestors angry at the killing of three members of their community by a gunman.

Cars were overturned, at least one vehicle was burned, shop windows were damaged and small fires set alight near Republic Square, a traditional venue for demonstrations where Kurds earlier held a peaceful protest.

Paris police chief Laurent Nunez said there had been a sudden violent turn in the protest but it was not yet clear why.

Following is the English version of the full text of Mir Mohammed Ali Talpur’s speech he had given at the seminar on Banuk Karima 2^nd death anniversary organized by Baloch Yekjehti Committee at Quetta Press Club on 21 December 2022.   

My Respected Fellow Travelers my Salam to you all.

Some people in history and movements come to represent not only the movements they are associated with but leave an enduring and unforgettable legacy behind that encourages others to follow their footsteps to take humanity forward on towards the goals of a dignified life of respect, equality and freedom.

Banuk Karima was such a person because she not only was a political and a social activist she was the pioneer for women’s participation in politics of resistance in Balochistan where women though held in respect and dignity were hesitant to participate in politics; it was Banuk Karima who blazed the trail and opened up the closed paths for women participation in politics of resistance and it is for this reason that Baloch women and men feel that her death anniversary on 21^st December is the most appropriate date to celebrate and observe “Baloch Women’s Day” as a mark of respect for her work and dedication.
