Uncle of Karima Baloch abducted by security forces in Balochistan

BALOCHISTAN: Master Noor Ahmad s/o Haji Khan Mohammad r/o Pullabad, Tump, District Kech, Makran, Balochistan was abducted by security forces at around 10:30 pm Pakistan time on July 28, 2016.

He was accompanied by almost a dozen of people in the vehicle when they reached at Ghinna check post, around 40 Km away from Turbat city while going back home from Turbat, they were stopped by security forces and asked to provide their NICs (National Identity Cards). He was dragged out and taken after the confirmation of his identity.

KARACHI: The whereabouts of social worker and publisher Abdul Wahid Baloch, a resident of Lyari’s Gharib Shah Road, are still unknown after he went ‘missing’ on July 26 2016, while his family alleges that he was picked up by law enforcement agencies.

A telephone operator at the Civil Hospital in Karachi, Abdul Wahid is a book lover, and helped Baloch authors publish their works and activists print posters.

”آصف بھائی سے کہو، مجھے کامریڈ نے بھیجا ہے۔ وہ تمہیں 50 فیصد رعایت دے گا۔“

On the sunny afternoon of July 26, 2016, a group of armed masked men stopped a passenger bus at a Pakistan army check post, near Gadap Town, in the northwestern part of Karachi, forming the provincial border of Sindh and Balochistan.

The masked men ordered all the passengers to show their identity cards. After enquiring all the passengers one by one, they forcibly offloaded Wahid Baloch and forced him into a blue-color Vigo, according to an eyewitness.

واحد بخش بلوچ کی بیٹی ہانی بلوچ نے بی بی سی کو بتایا کہ منگل کو ان کے والد اندرون سندھ ایک تقریب میں شرکت کے بعد واپس آ رہے تھے کہ کراچی ٹول پلازہ کے قریب ملیر موڑ پر وین روک کر انھیں اتارا گیا۔

I would never be able to believe that he read all the books he bought. He bought them in dozens. Not once in a month. Almost every week.

“Where can I find Kafka’s collection of short stories in Urdu?”

And he would guide me to a bookshop in Karachi’s Urdu Bazar that the Google Maps would never be able to locate, even in 2050.

“Tell Asif Bhai, Comrade has sent you. He’ll give you 50 percent discount.”

Baloch literary activist Wahid Baloch picked by “unknown gunmen” in Sindh

KARACHI : Wahid Baloch is well known in all the literary circles of Balochi language for his unconditional and tireless supports to promote Balochi language, especially when it comes to publications.

Mr. Baloch has been working as Editor in a monthly Periodical “Labzank” (Literature), as well as supporting all the publications in Balochi Language for decades. He was helping all the Baloch individuals/groups whoever wanted to publish a book in Balochi in Karachi, as the most available place to publish a book in Pakistan, was Karachi, for Baloch.
