Baloch, Sindhis Protest Pakistani Atrocities and War Crimes at UN, New York

New York, Sept 21 – Baloch National Movement (BNM) and Jeay Sindh Qaumi Mahaz (JSQM) held a joint protest rally outside the UN Headquarters in New York to highlight the gross human rights violations in Sindh and Balochistan. On the occasion of the 72^nd UNGA meeting in New York; Baloch and Sindhi activists campaigning for sovereignty of their lands, cultural identity and freedom of thought – gathered to jointly raise their voice against extreme forms of Pakistani military operations, enforced disappearances, torture and mass killings of civilians.

Addressing the media, Nabi Bakhsh Baloch, Secretary General, BNM-North America stated that the ongoing month-long Pakistani military operation in the Kolwah area of Balochistan has resulted in fatalities while a large number of residents were taken away by the soldiers who also set fire to their homes and properties. “For the record”, Mr. Baloch said, “This scenario is not about Myanmar or Rohingya Muslims but Balochistan where Pakistan’s Islamic Army is committing genocide against its own Muslim population.

ہزاروں فرعون صفت لوگوں کی پناہ گاہ پاکستان جو ایک جہنم سے کم نہیں،عجیب ہے ایک منبر پر بیٹھا مُلا اس عملی جہنم میں رہنے والے لوگوں کو، اُس جہنم کو بیان کر کے دھمکیاں دے جو نہ تو اُسنے کبھی دیکھا ہے نہ تو اسکے آباؤ اجداد نے،مطلب کوئی ایسا انسان پاکستان میں نہیں بستا جو اپنے سے کمزور کو خوف میں مبتلا کرنے میں ناکام رہا ہو۔مُلا اور مولوی سالوں سے جنت و دوزخ کے ختم نہ ہونے والے قصے سُنا کر کئیوں کو جنت کا گاجر دکھا کر موت کی گھاٹ اتار چکا ہے۔ کچھ لوگ بُھٹو کو زندہ دکھا کر یسّو مسیح کا درجہ دے چکے ہیں اور باقی عوام کاغذی شیر نواز شریف کے ابُھرنے والے معجزات کے پکے مُرید بن چکے ہیں، جو اکثر لاہور اور گِرد و نواح میں دیکھنے کو ملتے ہیں،جیسے میٹرو،لیپ ٹاپ، رنگ برنگی ٹیکسیاں اور تازہ شہہ سرخیوں میں گدھے کا گوشت سرِ فہرست ہے۔

Genocide is defined in Article 2 of the Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of the Crime of Genocide (1948): – “any of the following acts committed with intent to destroy, in whole or in part, a national, ethnical, racial or religious group, as such: killing members of the group; causing serious bodily or mental harm to members of the group.”

Since 1948, after the World War II, the countries that committed genocide have denied  it, and the civilized world that have committed itself not to allow it to happen again stood idle, avoiding to call an annihilation a genocide because they will be obliged to take action to stop it. We Baloch are squeezed between these two worlds, slaughtered by Iran and Pakistan but our situation not recognized as genocide by the West and the international community.

دنیا میں ہر گزرتے لمحے کے ساتھ حالات میں بھی ڈرامائی انداز میں تبدیلیاں رونما ہورہی ہیں اگر گذشتہ پانچ سے دس سالوں کا ایک طائرانہ جائزہ لیا جائے تو دنیا بھر میں حیرت انگیز تبدیلیاں وقوع پذیر ہوئی ہیں جو یقیناً بعض ممالک کے داخلی اور خارجی پالیسیوں پر بھی گہرے اثرات چھوڑ جاتے ہیں۔

جہاں ایسے اصلاحات استعمال کیے جاتے ہوں کہ ہمارا کوئی مستقل دشمن نہیں اور نہ ہی کوئی مستقل دوست صرف ہمارے مفادات مستقل ہیں یا پھر یوں کہیے کہ دشمن کا دشمن ہمارا دوست ہے ۔۔
