BALOCHISTAN: Religious extremists of the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria (ISIS) brand who the Pakistani army patronizes in Balochistan to counter Baloch National Struggle went on a rampage and burned down dozens of places of worship “Zikir Khana” of Zikri Baloch in Gichk area of district Panjgur, Balochistan.
On 21st September 2016 Pakistani state sponsored death squad operatives with the armed persons of ISIS burned down many Zikir Khanas in different areas of Gichk including “Sayad Essa Peer” and “Sayad Yousuf Peer” in Askani Chib, “Sayad Haji Peer” in Drakop and “Peer Sayad Kmalan” in Damli.
Minority community members say that almost 40 percent of their communities’ population has dwindled due to religious extremism, kidnapping for ransom and intolerance
Pakistan’s prominent Baloch politician, the late Mir Ghous Baksh Bizenjo, wrote in 1981: “A Baloch who may have spent his life in the mountains and never visited a city is liberal in religious outlook.” And among the Baloch, he further wrote, a single tribe is divided into two or more religious groups with somewhat different practices, but this has never strained relations among them. Moreover, he cited the example of the Zikri Baloch and Namazi (Zikri Baloch call the Sunni Baloch Namazi) Baloch that their customs and practices are very similar, wherein one brother in the same family is Zikri and another is Namazi.
BALOCHISTAN: Separatists in the southwestern province of Balochistan blame government security forces for an August 28 attack in the Awaran district that left six dead and seven injured.
Witnesses say armed men on motorbikes attacked a Zikri house of worship and began shooting indiscriminately, then left in the direction of a military camp.
BALOCHISTAN: At least nineteen (19) people were injured when a bomb exploded near pilgrims’ bus in Balochistan’s Khuzdar district, on Monday 28 July 2014.
According to levies official, the roadside blast occurred in Garesha area, when the Zikri pilgrims were traveling in the bus from Turbat to Khuzdar. The bus was partially damaged in the incident.
