Occupied Balochistan: The Chairman of Voice for Baloch Missing Persons, Nasrulllah Baloch complained that they have been given only two hours to meet the UN Working Group on Enforced Disappeared to hear their view on involuntary disappearances in Balochistan which is insufficient to present all cases. ch
He further said that the head of Pakistani Judicial Committee retired Justice Javed Iqbal was misleading the UN team and was repeating the rhetoric of Pakistani intelligence agencies by decreasing the number of enforced-disappeared Baloch activists who are currently being detained by Pakistan security intelligence. He also strongly criticized the Pakistan Defense Council for their announcement to hold a long march against the UN team and added that “The March announcement of Dafae Pakistan Council against United Nations’ visit to Balochistan is a ploy of secret agencies.”
The Baloch have their own culture, language and their own concept of patriotism and nationalism and refuse to subscribe to the Pakistani concept of patriotism and nationalism
The Latin quote Malo periculosam libertatem quam quietum servitium means, “I prefer liberty with danger to peace with slavery.” It embodies the Baloch sentiments and what they are working towards today; only a heartless person will fault them for this course because since 1948 they have been at the receiving end of state brutality. The problem between the Baloch and Pakistan has its genesis in the fact that since the forcible annexation in March 1948 after the initial 227 days’ independence of Kalat, the Baloch have been coerced by the state to subscribe to the Pakistani concepts of patriotism, nationalism and national interests. The Baloch reluctance to comply and conform to what is known as the Pakistan ideology has resulted in numerous military operations but fortunately, from each they have emerged more united and more determined.
The Baloch have their own culture, language and their own concept of patriotism and nationalism and refuse to subscribe to the Pakistani concept. The Pakistani state abhors diversity or nonconformity to their established concepts and with the intention of making the Baloch accept their version of patriotism, it has waged a war against the Baloch since 1948. The present operation, though more vicious and sustained than the previous ones, is being clandestinely conducted by the Frontier Corps (FC) and intelligence agencies; the 1973-77 one was equally brutal but was openly conducted by the military. The present spate of brutal abductions and killings is also more systematic and widespread.
The Chairman of Voice for Baloch Missing Persons Nasrullah Baloch has asked the incumbent chief Justice ofPakistanto form a commission for recording the statements of the missing persons and he himself should start hearing their cases. He said the commission that was formed for missing Persons was doing nothing except advocating the Intelligence agencies stance. The federal and the provincial governments are not sincere with Missing persons cases. Had it been that case, they would have paid a visit to the family members of the missing persons showing their solidarity.
VBMP Chairman was talking in front of Quetta Press Club along with Sami Baloch, the cousin of Altaf Rind, where the family members of Missing Persons were holding a set-in protest against illegal abductions of their love ones by state Intelligence agencies. Talking to press media, Sami Rind said that his cousin Altaf Rind was abducted at gun point along with his two friends by Intelligence agencies on June 7, 2012 while travelling from Ziarat toQuetta. He said that they were afraid of his cousin life, lest he met the same fate as his elder brother, Sameer Rind, who was abducted, later they received his mutilated dead body.
