Modi finds jobs for geostrategic experts on Balochistan, Kashmir

Narendra Modi said something on Balochistan. He actually said something in which he also mentioned Balochistan. He said Pakistan had to answer for its crimes in Gilgit-Baltistan, Pakistani Kashmir and Balochistan.

It has served one thing so far. The geostrategic and defence analysts, most of whom are either retired generals or jobless civilians, got a chance to spit their expert opinion at news shows. Thus it proves Indian hand in Balochistan. I had said 30 years back that India is involved.

”آصف بھائی سے کہو، مجھے کامریڈ نے بھیجا ہے۔ وہ تمہیں 50 فیصد رعایت دے گا۔“

I would never be able to believe that he read all the books he bought. He bought them in dozens. Not once in a month. Almost every week.

“Where can I find Kafka’s collection of short stories in Urdu?”

And he would guide me to a bookshop in Karachi’s Urdu Bazar that the Google Maps would never be able to locate, even in 2050.

“Tell Asif Bhai, Comrade has sent you. He’ll give you 50 percent discount.”

Some people are touting it as one of the biggest diplomatic achievements for the Baloch cause at an international level. Others are calling it another photo session of a Baloch leader with some white politicians.

In the photos, Hammal Haider Baloch, the foreign spokesman for the Baloch National Movement (BNM), is surrounded by a bunch of European parliamentarians who seem to be keenly listening to what Mr Baloch is saying.

Veteran Baloch militant leader Abdul Nabi Bangulzai is alive and “sitting with me right now sipping from his tea”, a source in the United Baloch Army, a militant group Bangulzai purportedly leads, told Balochistan Times on Sunday.

Home Minister Balochistan Sarfaraz Bugti claimed the previous day in a press conference that Bangulzai had been killed along with 34 other militants in the Kalat area. He was being accompanied by the provincial government’s spokesman, Anwarul Haq Kakar.

ہم تقریبا ہر روز لڑے۔ سیاست پر۔ میں بلوچ اسٹوڈنٹس آرگنائزیشن کا ایک نوجوان رکن تھا اور وہ ایک تجربہ کار بلوچ قوم پرست رہنما اور بلوچ نیشنل موومنٹ کے بانی تھے۔ لیکن انہوں نے میرے کتابی خیالات کو ایک نوجوان کے یوٹوپیا طور پر کبھی مسترد نہیں کیا۔ اگرچہ، وہ شاذ و نادر ہی مجھ سے اتفاق کرتے، میں جو بات کہتا وہ اسے ہمیشہ سنتے تھے اور پھر ایک سگریٹ جلاتے جس سے انہیں اپنا جوابی دلیل دینے کیلئے تیار ہونے میں وقت ملتا۔

“I ran out of my house when I heard children and women crying. I saw four military trucks approaching,” recalled 22-year old Bibi Gul. Then a jeep stopped at the front gate and soldiers laid siege to the house of Mohammed Hussain, a schoolteacher and Bibi Gul’s father. “It was around 11am.”

Bibi Gul had been expecting them since early morning when FC personnel besieged their village on May 24 for a door-to-door search operation. Her house stood at the other edge of Gomazi, a small village, some 70 kilometers from Turbat city. It took soldiers four hours to reach this last abode after they searched rest of the houses in the village. Bibi Gul had seen smoke billowing out from several houses since the morning.
