Pakistan: How the blasphemy laws enable abuse

Pakistan’s blasphemy laws are often used against religious minorities and others who are the target of false accusations, while emboldening vigilantes prepared to threaten or kill the accused, a new Amnesty International report says today.

“There is overwhelming evidence that Pakistan’s blasphemy laws violate human rights and encourage people to take the law into their own hands. Once a person is accused, they become ensnared in a system that offers them few protections, presumes them guilty, and fails to safeguard them against people willing to use violence,” said Audrey Gaughran, Amnesty International’s Director of Global Issues.

کوئٹہ(سنگر نیوز) بلوچ آزادی پسند رہنما ڈاکٹر اللہ نذر بلوچ نے اپنے بیان میں کوئٹہ واقعے کی مذمت کرتے ہوئے کہا ہے کہ کوئٹہ میں اتنی بڑی تعداد میں وکلاء اور نہتے شہریوں کا قتل عام انتہائی افسوسناک ہے۔

ایسے واقعات کا رونما ہونا پاکستان کی اُس پالیسی کا نتیجہ ہے جس کے تحت پاکستان مذہبی انتہا پسندوں کی پرورش کرکے بلوچ قومی تحریک آزادی کے خلاف کھڑا کر رہا ہے۔ کوئٹہ میں طالبان کی مجلس شوریٰ کی موجودگی سے ایسے کئی واقعات ہوتے رہیں گے، جو کہ اچھنبے کی بات نہیں ہونی چاہیے۔ بلکہ اس کے خلاف عوام کو اُٹھ کھڑا ہونا چاہئے۔ جب تک عوام پاکستان کی ان پالیسیوں کے خلاف خوف کی وجہ سے چپ سادھ رکھے گی، تب تک لاشیں اُٹھانا نہتے عوام کا مقدر ہوں گی۔

چند ہفتے قبل پاکستان کے سب سے بڑے صوبے نے ایک نئے قانون کی منظوری دی جسے خواتین کیخلاف تشدد کے تحفظ کا پنجاب ایکٹ (پنجاب پروٹیکشن آف وومن اگینسٹ وائلینس ایکٹ) کہا جاتا ہے۔ اس قانون نے ان بنیادی اقدامات کی بِنا ڈالی ہے جو کہتے ہیں کہ ایک شوہر اپنی بیوی کو نہیں پیٹ سکتا اور اگر وہ ایسا کرتا ہے تو اسے مجرمانہ الزامات کا سامنا کرنا پڑے گا اور ممکنہ طور اپنے گھر سے بیدخلی کا بھی۔ اس میں ایک ہاٹ لائن کے قیام کی تجویز دی گئی ہے جس پر عورتیں بدسلوکی کو رپورٹ کرنے کیلئے کال کر سکتی ہیں۔ کچھ صورتوں میں، مجرموں کو ایک جی پی ایس مانیٹر کیساتھ ایک کڑا پہننے کی ضرورت ہوگی اور انہیں بندوق خریدنے کی اجازت نہیں ہوگی۔

BALOCHISTAN: In a statement issued on Monday, the leader of Balochistan Liberation Front (BLF), Dr. Allah Nazar Baloch has strongly condemned Pakistani attempts to counter the secular Baloch movement with religious extremism.

“The Pakistani state has always used Islamism as an effective tool to counter the Baloch, Sindhi and Pashtun nationalist movements. This time Pakistan is spreading radicalism at a full scale in Balochistan,” he said.
