As we sit down in his Geneva home for an interview, Nawab Brahumdagh Bugti is a worried man. The President of the Baloch Republican Party (BRP) is flooded with messages about military operations in and around his hometown Dera Bugti in Balochistan. “It’s been like this since the morning. It doesn’t stop. Pakistan will destroy the world”, he says adding “Narendra Modi has seriously altered the global discourse about our part of the world by highlighting the plight of the Baloch – we are very grateful to him and India.” Excerpts:

Pakistan shows itself as a democratic state but it was afraid of referendum in Balochistan under the UN supervision which is a peaceful and democratic way to let people choose their fate.

The president of Baloch Republican Party Nawab Brahumdagh Bugti, while talking to a Pakistani news channel, denied claims of government regarding negotiations between Baloch freedom movement leaders and Pakistani state. He said “like the previous governments, the current government makes false claims of negotiations, these are tactics of fooling people.”

1,40,000 killed, at least 20,000 Baloch are missing since 2006

Geneva: Nawab Brahumdagh Bugti said in the first part of his talk that Balochistan is burning since the forceful occupation by the Pakistani state in 1948. Five major military operations had been launched by the armed forces of Pakistan and the latest of them still continues full-fledged. During this period of 66 years, Balochistan has suffered from gross human rights violations by the Pakistani forces which have been getting worse and accelerated with the passage of every single day.
