Asst. to Pak undermines the efforts of World Powers against terrorism and religious extremism: Khalil Baloch
BALOCHISTAN: The chairman of the Baloch National Movement (BNM), Khalil Baloch has stated that consistent financial and economic assistance to a rogue terrorist state like Pakistan will undermine the efforts of World Powers against terrorism and religious extremism. Strengthening itself through aid, loans and patronage of the United States, China and other powers, Pakistan is not only committing genocide of the Baloch but also becoming a serious threat to the entire region and to world security.
Khalil Baloch said that China’s interests in occupied Balochistan, especially its massive investment in the China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) deserves condemnation; it is not only strengthening Pakistan’s occupation of Balochistan but also making China a party to the conflict in Balochistan including the Baloch genocide, the pillaging of Baloch resources and the war against the Baloch nation.

Profiles in courage from Balochistan
Rampant human rights abuses in Pakistan go underreported
Series: Profiles in courage from Balochistan
This is the first part of a series of articles in which Jahanzeb Hussain interviews five important figures from Balochistan. The story of Balochistan is one of the most under-reported in the world. We are pleased to publish these all-too-rare and wide-ranging interviews in hope that the narrative from Balochistan reaches a wider audience.
Mama Qadeer, Farzana Majeed, Karima Baloch, Khalil Baloch, and Allah Nazar are names unfamiliar to most people in Pakistan, let alone the rest of the world.
Even for educated Pakistanis, Balochistan is mostly out of sight – mere rocks, sand, and the Chaghi Mountains, where Pakistan tested its nuclear bomb.

“Our exploitation began the day when our land was conquered”
Collateral Damage magazine had the honour of interviewing Khalil Baloch, the Chairman of the Baloch National Movement, Balochistan’s largest nationalist party. The interview was conducted by Jahanzeb Hussain, the editor of Collateral Damage
Why is there widespread resentment in Balochistan against the mega projects such as the Gawadar port project?
First of all, I would like to clarify that Balochistan is a colony of Pakistan. Our exploitation began the day when our land was conquered and turned into a colony. From plundering our resources to denying us our cultural rights, the colonial state posses all the tools of exploitation. The mega projects that you have mentioned are also part of the colonial exploitation. On one hand, the Pakistani state wants to capture rent by letting China access global markets through the warm-water port of Gawadar and, on the other hand, the state wants to alter the demographic balance of Balochistan in order to turn us into strangers in our own lands.

It’s to bring to your attention that the Baloch people have time and again knocked the door of the United Nations to seek help to stop massive human rights abuses they suffer at the hands of Pakistani and Iranian states. However, with utmost regret, the esteemed world body has not taken any significant step so far to investigate these crimes against humanity being committed, especially by Pakistan.
