Occupied Balochistan: The Baloch Doctors Forum on Friday said it was a positive step that doctors from interior Balochistan including Hub, Mastung and Dera Bugti joined Baloch Doctors’ Forum.
The BDF assured that it will meet the expectations of those friends who trusted their organisation and joined them.
The central spokesperson of BDF in his press release urged the government to arrest the abductors of Dr Abdul Aziz Baloch and the killer of Dr Lakhi Chand Baloch. Moreover he said, “The government has failed to arrest the killers of professor surgeon Dr Mazar Khan Baloch, Dr Naseem Baloch, Dr Baqir Shah, Dr Dawood, Aziz Baloch and Dr Hameed Bangulzai. Whereas Dr Deen Mohammad Baloch and Dr Akbar Marri are missing from past four years and the perpetrators involved in their abduction have not been arrested.”
Occupied Balochistan: The government has failed to recover the enforced-disappeared doctors and arrest those behind target killing of Baloch doctors.
The Baloch Doctors’ Forum (BDF) said Dr Deen Mohammad Baloch and Dr Akbar Marri are already missing from past several years and now Dr Saeed Khan has also been abducted. The security forces and Balochistan government has also failed to bring the killers of Dr Dawod Aziz and Dr Abdul Hameed Bangulzai to justice.
In principle, society and the media generally believe and follow the dictum of the misattributed Stalin quote: “The death of one man is a tragedy; the death of millions is a statistic”
A society is identified and judged by the values and ideals it relates to through its actions and observance. Ironically, here Valentine’s Day is more fervently observed and celebrated than the International Day of Disappeared Persons or the International Day against Torture. The state for sure and a majority of the people probably do not have the frame of reference that would evoke compassion for the disappeared persons’ or their relatives’ angst. Consequently, even on the International Day of Disappeared Persons observed on August 30, there was not a single editorial in the dailies I read. Probably, it was not deemed an important enough occasion to deserve the coverage that water-car charades command or Valentine’s Day gets. This highlights society’s indifference to the sufferings of others. This sad day however was observed in Balochistan and the Baloch Diaspora organised protests in foreign capitals.
Occupied Balochistan: Baloch doctor’s Forum, in a statement, said that Baloch Doctors’ Forum and Pakistan Medical Association started the ongoing protest when Dr Deen Mohammad Bangulzai was discovered, and it will continue until the release of Dr Ghulam Rasul, Dr Deen Mohammad Baloch and Doctor Akbar Marri.
The protesting doctors said the government was not paying serious attention to their protest because it has failed to protect the doctors and arrest abductors and killers of their associates. “The killers of Professor Dr Mazar Khan Baloch, Dr Baqir Shah, Dr Saleh Baloch, Dr Momtaz Haydar, Dr Samad Khan Achakzai and others are still at large”, said the BDF.
