Baloch Representatives Discuss Human Rights Situation With Brussels Institutions

Brussels: Human rights campaigner Noordin Mengal and Baloch Peoples Party representative Nasser Boladai, representatives of the Baloch people in Pakistan and Iran respectively, made a visit to Brussels to raise awareness of the ongoing human rights violations against Baloch people in the two countries, and to urge the European Union to take measures against the unrelenting systematic suppression exercised by the Pakistani and Iranian authorities.

The meetings allowed the Baloch representatives to engage in constructive dialogue with Members of the European Parliament, the European Parliament’s Presidential Cabinet, representatives of the EU’s diplomatic service – the European External Action Service [EEAS], political advisors, and human rights organisations.

Unfortunately, there was no such luck for the hundreds of thousands who survived a massive earthquake that struck Pakistan’s mineral-rich, yet dirt-poor region of Balochistan on September 25.

Instead, the Pakistani military shut out international aid agencies, taking advantage of the crisis to launch an offensive against Baloch nationalists fighting for independence from Pakistan’s occupation.

Parliamentarians gather to express solidarity with oppressed citizens of Baluchistan

Baluchistan Destiny DeniedBrussels: Legislators from around the globe gathered at the European Parliament at Brussels, Belgium this week to denounce the Pakistani government’s kill-and-dump policy in Baluchistan and to express their support for democracy, human rights and the rule of law in the beleaguered province.

The event ‘Baluchistan: Destiny Denied’ was hosted by the European Conservatives and Reformists Group in the European Parliament and Baluchistan House.

Introducing the event, Paulo Casaca, executive director of South Asia Democratic Forum, highlighted the continuing oppression of the Baluch people and the systematic denial of their rights by the Pakistani government.

Balochistan issue raised at European Parliament in Brussels

Brussels: Noordin Mengal and Nasser Boladai (Balochistan Peoples Party), representatives of the Baloch people in Pakistan and Iran respectively, made a three-day visit to the European Parliament in Brussels to raise awareness of the continued human rights abuses against Baloch people in both countries, and to urge the European Union to speak out against the continued systematic suppression exerted upon them by the Pakistani and Iranian regimes.
