‘Political revolt is our right’

KARACHI: When there is extreme oppression, discrimination and human rights violations, the reaction to that also becomes extreme, said the self-exiled central leader of the Balochistan National Party Sanaullah Baloch via a video conferencing system from Geneva, Switzerland, while explaining the cause of insurgent movements in Balochistan to an audience at The Second Floor (T2F).

Mr Baloch and Mir Sohaib Mengal, the London-based Baloch Students Organisation-Azad central executive committee member who is studying accountancy there, joined the informal talk, which was a second session of the Balochistan discussion series, on Thursday evening.

Author and journalist Mohammad Hanif moderated the session.

Pakistan urged to investigate murder and torture of Baloch activists

The Pakistani government must investigate the torture and killings of more than 40 Baloch leaders and political activists over the past four months, Amnesty International said today.

Activists, politicians and student leaders are among those who have been targeted in enforced disappearances, abductions, arbitrary arrests and cases of torture and other ill-treatment. The violence takes place against a backdrop of increasing political unrest and Pakistan army operations in Balochistan, south western Pakistan.

PAKISTAN: The killing of Baloch leaders exposes the hate attitude of law enforcement agencies towards Balochistan

A Statement by the Asian Human Rights Commission

The two prominent Baloch political leaders have been assassinated within three days by unknown assailants riding on motorbikes. It is alleged by the political and nationalist groups of the province that they were killed by law enforcement agencies to take revenge from the people of Balochistan for demanding greater autonomy.

Balochistan province is still in the strong grip of military and Para-Military forces. It is believed that they are responsible for the continuous disappearances of nationalists after their arrest by plain clothed men and the assassinations and extra judicial killings of political and nationalist leaders. Since 2001, during the regime of General Musharraf, there was a military operation for the control of the natural resources of the province including, natural gas deposits, oil fields, mines of copper, cobalt’s, deep sea port and others.

Tell the enemy of Baloch that we are one nation – Baloch Vanguards

Baloch don’t have any future in Pakistan and Iran. To them we are savage, uneducated and a burden, so we will always be treated as third class citizens in these countries.

It looks like a new phase in the Baloch Liberation Movement has started. It has been noticed for quite some times that Pakistani agencies (ISI) have been organizing Baloch traitors and criminals to do their dirty work for terrorizing Baloch leaders and activist. It was assumed that these ISI backed organization will only target those activist that are campaigning for the liberation of Balochistan. Many brave activists belonging to the freedom movement were martyred by these elements.

Thalibanization of Baloch Society

On 15th April 2010, the faces of two sisters were burnt with acid attack by unknown attackers near a village in Dalbandin, Chagai District, the attackers later on claimed responsibility with using the name of a unknown group called “Baloch Ghairth Mand Tanzeem”, this organization threatened the women and female members of society to remain in their homes and if found alone out their houses they will face Acid attacks.

This incident was widely condemned by the Baloch leadership in Balochistan and abroad and political parties. Balochistan National Party and National Party held protest rallies; Baloch National Front and Baloch National Movement also not only issued strict statements against the attackers but also took out protest rallies and termed them anti Baloch and anti human elements.

Two killed, four injured in firing at Khuzdar political rally

KHUZDAR: At least two Baloch political activists were shot dead and four others were seriously injured after security force opened indiscriminate fire on a protest rally of the Baloch Students’ Organization (BSO) in Khuzdar district on Friday.

According to the details, security forces opened fire on a protest rally of the Baloch Students Organization (BSO-Azad) which was intended to protest the recent killing of Baloch citizens in Karachi and the launching of a government-backed operation in the area.
