You’ve probably never heard of Balochistan. A resource rich province of Pakistan wedged between Afghanistan and Iran, it is an area of great geo-political importance that includes the port of Gwadar, which many eye as a profitable road to China and Central Asia. Balochistan is also the site of what historian Selig Harrison has called “a slow motion genocide” of the Baloch people.

Families of “Disappeared Balochs” to Launch Train March to Islamabad on April 2


Occupied Balochistan: The Voice for Baloch Missing Persons (VBMP) along with the relatives of missing persons will carry out a “train march” towards Islamabad on April 2 to build up pressure on democratic government for the early recovery of missing persons and to get the attention of national and international community towards this humanitarian issue.VBMP president Nasrullah Baloch made this announcement while addressing a press conference at hunger strike camp set up in front of Quetta press club for the recovery of missing persons, on Thursday. Relatives of several missing persons were also present on the occasion.

UK: Baloch and Sindhis condemn the occupation of Balochistan

The demonstration was organized by the Baloch Human Rights Council (UK), the World Sindhi Congress and Balochistan Liberation Organisation in collaboration with Baloch Raaje Zroumbesh, Balochistan Peoples Party, Balochistan United Front Federal and International Voice for Baloch Missing Persons.

THE fundamentalist states of Pakistan and Iran are presently engaged in a vicious competition in their policy of abduction, torture, hanging and under-custody killing of Baloch political and human rights activists. To highlight the plight of these victims the International Voice for Baloch Missing Persons (UK) and the Baloch Human Rights Council (UK) are jointly organising a protest demonstration in front of 10 Downing Street on Sunday 9 January 2011. This is part of our monthly “Save Balochistan Campaign” to protest against violation of human rights by the occupying military and security forces.
