Jan 25: Remembering the Mass Graves of Tutak, Balochistan

1Remembering Martyrs of Mass Graves of BalochistanCan humanitarian relief be imagined in an atmosphere of continued human rights abusive? Can humanitarian operation be imagined alongside of military operation? Can disaster relief center be imagined in the midst of a mass grave?

People living in a civilized society can’t imagine how a death squad can organize a disaster relief center, how a military operation can be managed in the name of humanitarian operation and why people start to migrate to save their lives from the so-called humanitarian relief using helicopter gunships in aerial bombardments over villages.

“When crimes become invisible”: On the Mass Graves of Khuzdar, Balochistan

Mir Muhammad Ali TalpurA mass grave was discovered in Tootak, Khuzdar on the 25th January by a shepherd after which the locals converged there to recover bodies. The number of the bodies found, which the middle class government representatives are at pains to limit to 13, while reports filtering out put the number at around 150 and more. Even a Supreme Court (SC) judge said the number is 25. The numbers aside what this supposedly representative government fails to understand is that even a single body is one too many but then this government like that of the previous one is more concerned about surviving rather than serving the people.

Mass graves greeted by mass silence

by Tarek Fatah, Toronto Sun

khuzdar-mass-gravesIt would have been inconceivable that any U.S. official, let alone a Secretary of State, would host a delegation from Serbia the day after mass graves were discovered in Srebrenica in 1995.

Yet on Sunday, a day after bullet-ridden bodies were discovered in suspected mass graves in Pakistan’s military-controlled province of Balochistan, Secretary of State John Kerry was toasting a delegation of Pakistan security officials at the State Department.
