Europe: Even doctors are not safe in Balochistan. Dr. Deen Mohammad Baloch and Dr. Akbar Marri are among dozens of doctors who are missing or have been killed. The Pakistan Medical Association reports that at least 26 doctors have been killed in Balochistan in recent times and as many as 17 have been kidnapped. Khuzdar, Mastung, Quetta or Jaffarabad – doctors are not safe anywhere as they are allegedly being targeted by the security forces and spy agencies. Instead of taking action against criminals and providing protection to doctors, the Balochistan government has acted against several doctors by suspending them from their jobs. The doctors in the region have been on strike for months against kidnappings and targeted killings.
The Baloch Doctors’ Forum (BDF) said Dr Deen Mohammad Baloch and Dr Akbar Marri are already missing from past several years and now Dr Saeed Khan has also been abducted. The security forces and Balochistan government has also failed to bring the killers of Dr Dawod Aziz and Dr Abdul Hameed Bangulzai to justice.
According to details Mr Bangulzai was on his way from Mastung to Quetta when unidentified people whisked him away. Doctor Deen Mohammad Bangulzai was returning from his clinic after seeing some patients. “The doctor’s car was found in Ganji Dori area and he was missing,” sources reported.
Dr Bangulzai is a resident of Mastung, Balochistan and works in Bolan Medical Complex (BMC) as a senior surgeon Doctor.
