Gwadar, Protester In Future, Will Be Locked Up In Jail: Corps Commander Asif Ghafoor

To review the situation in the coastal city of Gwadar, Quetta Corps Commander Asif Ghafoor visited Gwadar after the arrests and crackdown on the sit-in of Haq Do Tehreek.

During his visit, Asif Ghafoor met with dignitaries of the area and local administration.

Wajah Sulaiman Baloch, a local senior leader of Gwadar said that the corps commander called us to a meeting and said that if ever in the future the roads to the Gwadar port and airport are closed by the protesters, he will put everyone in jail.

Gwadar police arrest Haq Do Tehreek leader Maulana Hidayatur Rehman

Gwadar police on Friday arrested Haq Do Tehreek (HDT) leader Maulana Hidayatur Rehman after he showed up at a local court — four days after he announced that he was heading to Gwadar to surrender.

A heavy police contingent was present at the court today to arrest Rehman over charges stemming from the killing of a policeman by unidentified assailants on Dec 27, 2022 during the recent protests held by HDT supporters.

According to police spokesperson Aslam Khan, constable Yasir was shot in the neck after violence erupted during the protest at Hashmi Chowk. “He passed away on the spot.”
