Strike in major towns of Balochistan against Gebun operation and killings

The Baloch Human Rights Organisation staged demos outside Quetta and Karachi Press Clubs, on Thursday, against the killing of three Baloch activists in Gebun area of Turbat, Balochistan.

Protesters were carrying placards, banners and shouting slogans demanding humanitarian organisations for taking notice of Pakistani State atrocities and genocide of Baloch nation.

Speakers addressing the demos strongly criticised Pakistani security agencies for their excesses towards Baloch people.

BHRO leaders appealed the UN and other International human rights Organisations to take action against Pakistani state atrocities in Balochistan.

Meanwhile, a complete shutter-down strike was observed in various Baloch-dominated districts of Balochistan on Thursday against Gebun incident.

All shops, markets and business activities remained shut in Turbat, Mand, Tump, Panjgour, Awaran, Kharan and others towns while traffic was also thin on roads as compared to normal days. Local administration had taken tight security measures to thwart any unpleasant incident by deploying FC and Levies personnel.

The Baloch political parties had given shutter-down strike call to protest and condemn murder of three people at the hands of security personnel on Wednesday in Gebun region of district Kech, Balochistan.

The Baloch political parties termed the Gebun incident a continuation of ongoing military operations in Balochistan and state atrocities against Baloch people.
