BRP urges Balochs to decline military’s relief-assistance in Mekran

QUETTA: The Baloch Republican Party (BRP) has appealed to all flood-stricken Balochs of Mekran to overtly reject all assistance given to them by the federal government and the country’s military in the wake of Cyclone Phet.

Speaking to The Baloch Hal, Sher Mohammad Bugti, the official spokesman of the pro-independent Balochistan BRP, which is headed by Nawabzada Bramdagh Bugti, said the people of Mekran were already undergoing a deadly military operation which was unleashed against them recently by the country’s military. Later on, a natural disaster hit them as well. However, this disaster is not as severe as the military operation carried out against the masses by the forces in Mekran. Therefore, the Baloch people should reject all assistance offered to the flood victims as Balochs have a tradition of fighting against their enemy rather than surrendering before it at a hard time.

“Balochs suffered more due to the bombardment and the military operation as compared to this flood. Our people have to demonstrate patience and restraint at this hard time,” appealed the BRP spokesman.

He said the security forces had formerly carried out military operations against the Baloch people in Dera Bugti and Sui under the pretext of guarding the national installations but now one wondered why an operation had been unleashed in Mekran even though no installations are located there.

“Attacks have taken place on the Pakistani army in Islamabad, Lahore and Rawalpindi in the past but forces did not launch a military operation there to kill the innocent people. Why has such a hostile approach been adopted in Balochistan against the Baloch people,” asked the spokesman.

“We have been targeting the Pakistani army, establishment and the national traitors in the past and such attacks will continue in the future as well as we will not tolerate their presence in Balochistan. If the army is powerful enough then it should confront the Baloch fighters face to face in the battle ground instead of kidnapping our young men and killing elderly citizens, women and children which are opposed to the international standards of war,” he added.

The spokesman urged the Balochs not to seek assistance from Islamabad in the wake of flood. “We have to pick up guns for the independence of Balochistan rather than begging for help from our oppressors,” he said.
