QUETTA: A wheel jam and shutter down strike was observed in almost all of the Baloch dominated areas of Balochistan  on Friday (10-May-2013) which was the 2nd day of strike in protest against the elections..

The Baloch National Front (BNF) an alliance of Baloch National Movement (BNM) and Baloch Student Organization (Azad) BSO (A) had given the call for strike from 9 to 11 May on the eve of elections on account of their opposition towards elections in Balochistan.

Balochistan shuts down over anti-election strike call

QUETTA: A complete shutter-down and wheel-jam strike was observed in Baloch dominant district of Balochistan on Thursday (9 May 2013) on the call of Baloch National Front (BNF) against the general election. The Baloch National Front (BNF) is an alliance of Baloch National Movement (BNM) and Baloch Student Organization (Azad) BSO (A) had given a three-day strike call in Balochistan against the general elections. All busy markets, business centres and shopping malls remained closed during the day and a sense of fear ruled in general. The provincial capital also presented a dull look with lesser number of vehicles plying on the roads and most of the shops closed. Tight security measures were seen in the provincial capital with police backed by FC and other law enforcement agencies patrolling the area throughout the day.

The patriot Baloch parties that are boycotting the Pakistani elections include the Baloch National Movement, the Baloch National Voice, the Baloch Republican Party, the Baloch Liberation Party, the Baloch Student Organisation – Azad and the Baloch Salvation Front.

Pak using Islamic groups to quell Baloch nationalism: Hammal Haider

Hammal HaiderLondon, April 11 (ANI): Pakistan has been using these Islamic fundamentalist groups to quell the Baloch nationalist movement, a spokesman of the UK-based Baloch Nationalist Movement (BNM) has claimed.

Speaking in an exclusive interview to ANI here, BNM spokesman Hammal Haider said: “This is the Pakistan Government’s policy, they are making these Islamic groups in Balochistan powerful in order to quell Baloch nationalists.”

“It is crystal clear that Pakistan has been using these Islamic fundamentalist groups to safeguard their interests, it’s evidently clear that in province of Afghanistan and other places, Pakistan’s intelligence agencies are using them for their petty interests,” he added.

BNF Boycotts and bans Pakistani electronic media in Balochistan

Pakistani Media in vshOccupied Balochistan: Baloch National Front announced to boycott all Pakistani electronic media channels including Baloch TV VSH in Balochistan due to the intentional censoring of Baloch Genocide by these channels.

The spokesman of BNF said that the behavior of Pakistani media channels in Balochistan is very negative and the channels have continuously been acting as the mouthpieces of Pakistani Army.

Hundreds of Baloch rally in Karachi against media blackout in Balochistan

Baloch rally called for UN intervention in Balochistan and urged the international media to break their ‘criminal silence’ on Pakistani state atrocities in Balochistan. 

Karachi: Large numbers of Baloch women, children, and elderly have participated in a procession against military operations in Balochistan and media’s failure to report about Baloch genocide by Pakistan. The rally set off from Ath Chowk in Lyari, also known as Nawab Bugti Chowk, and marched all the way to Karachi Press Club. The Baloch National Front, an alliance of BSO-Azad and BNM, had given the call for the rally.

The participants of rally were carrying banners, placards and flags of Balochistan. They chanted slogans against Pakistan and its security agencies. They also painted walls and shutters of closed shops with graffiti including: “BALOCH WANT FREEDOM, NO VOTE NO ELECTION AND STOP BALOCH GENOCIDE.” The rally transformed into a huge demonstration after they reached to the Press Club.
