Pakistan officially recognized Balochistan independence, But later occupied it against Baloch Will : Khan of Kalat
Talking to a private TV Channel the Khan of Kalat Sulaiman Dawood Khan said that there is a difference between occupation and annexation.Explaining the historical facts the apparent heir to Ex- Baloch ruler said that Pakistan acknowledged the independence of Balochistan on august 7th, 1947. But on March 27th 1948 Pakistan occupied Balochistan at the behest of the then British Empire. He said that Kharan, Makran and Lasbela were not separate independent entity!
Even the head of the military power of a civilised state may well envy the “unrestrained respect” of society for the elder of a clan. This essentially is the distinction between a people’s sardar and the Pakistani state
The institution of sardar is much maligned here, and not because Pakistan deems it evil. It is because sardars commanding the unreserved respect of their tribes and representing the political will of the Baloch people have thwarted the state’s attempts to subjugate the Baloch and exploit Balochistan’s resources. Pakistan’s intentions and actions are at odds with the inherent rights of the Baloch and its uncivilised and shabby treatment of them has guaranteed that it will never get their confidence and support.
WASHINGTON, DC:Republican Congressman Dana Rohrabacher said on Tuesday he would continue to support the Baloch right to self-determination even if relations between the United States and Pakistan completely normalize and Islamabad abandons its support for Taliban and Islamist groups.
He was speaking at the Zenger Room of the National Press Club in Washington DC at a crowded press conference with fellow congressmen Steve King and Louie Gohmert.
Rohrbacher, who is the chairman of the House Foreign Affairs Committee on Oversight and Investigations, said support for his resolution on Balochistan was continuously increasing among the members of the Congress. Initially, only four legislators had supported the Baloch right to self-determination but now his resolution enjoyed the support of at least twelve others. He hoped support for the Baloch right to self-determination would steadily increase in the US Congress.
Quetta: (Tuesday, March 27, 2012) Quetta, along with rest of the Balochistan witnessed a complete shutter-down and wheel jam strike today rendering the business and trade activities in the province paralyzed.
The call for strike was given by Baloch National Front (BNF) against what they described as Balochistan’s “forced accession” to Pakistan back on March 27, 1948.
Amid the strike, the traffic on National and RCD Highway between Quetta to Karachi, Taftan and Nasirabad remained suspended. The initiative to call for strike was also backed by other nationalist parties including Baloch Students
Organisation (BSO), but there were no statements issued.
